DeSingel Antwerp: Drawing Ambience

Tuesday October 24th 2017 by Peter Thomas Lang

Opening Discussion Drawing Ambience: with Nicholas Boyarsky, Alexander Brodsky, and Peter Cook. Peter Lang Moderator. 24 October, 2017

‘Drawing Ambience’ consists of architectural drawings from the private collection of the educationalist Alvin Boyarsky (1928-1990). As an architect, teacher and critic, he stood up for new models or education and design practice, always in relation to worldwide cultural changes. As the chairman of the Architectural Association (1971-1990), he created a platform from which young architects could explore current challenges and define their own visual and spatial idiom.
Boyarsky’s extremely varied collection includes designs and theoretical explorations, drawn by Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, Daniel Liebeskind, Bernard Tschumi et al. It reflects the visionary spirit of projects both built and not built.
